What is full term pregnancy in weeks?

I am pregnant with my first child and trying to understand everything. My doctor mentioned 'full term pregnancy' but I'm not clear on the exact week range. Can someone tell me how many weeks are considered full term?

Full term pregnancy, sweetie, is generally considered to be from 37 weeks 0 days up to 40 weeks 6 days. This is when the baby's organs are fully developed and ready for birth. Anything before 37 weeks is preterm, and after 41 weeks is post-term. So that 37-40 week window is ideal.

Reaching full term was such an emotional journey for me after my previous difficulties. The weeks felt endless, always counting till that 37-week mark. It's a period of both anxiety and immense hope, knowing your baby is getting ready. It's okay to feel all those intense emotions.

Full term? That's when the baby's like, 'Okay, I'm done baking, let me out!' Usually, it's between 37 and 40 weeks. After 40, they send in the eviction notice, lol. But yeah, around 9 months for those who don't count weeks!

For pregnancies, especially if you have high BP like I do, doctors aim for a full term delivery for the baby's health. That usually means 37 weeks to 40 weeks and 6 days. Consistent monitoring and following medical advice are critical to achieve this safely.

At good hospitals, they're very precise. Full term is defined as 37 weeks 0 days to 40 weeks 6 days. They also classify it further into early term, full term, and late term within this window. Always ask your own obstetrician for the exact definition and what it means for your specific pregnancy.

I was just researching this! So, 'full term' for a baby is generally considered to be from 37 weeks up to 40 weeks and 6 days. It's when most of the baby's development is complete. It's good to know these things even if you're not pregnant yet.
