What is food aversion in pregnancy?

I'm in my first trimester of pregnancy and suddenly can't stand the smell or taste of certain foods I used to love. My mother-in-law said it's 'food aversion'. Is that what it is, and what does it mean?

Food aversion in pregnancy? Oh, my cousin had that. She suddenly couldn't stand the smell or taste of chicken, which she used to love! It's like, your body just decides 'nope' to certain foods you usually enjoy. Must be weird, like your taste buds are playing tricks on you.

Bete, food aversion matlab, pregnancy mein kuch cheezein dekh kar hi ulte jaisa lagna ya unki smell pasand na aana. It's a natural thing. Try small, bland meals, ginger tea helps some. But if you can't eat anything at all and feel weak, then please see your doctor, don't just rely on home remedies for too long.

Food aversion during pregnancy is very common, I hear. It's when certain foods make you feel nauseous or disgusted. It's important to still try and maintain a balanced diet for both mother and baby. Just like with high BP, regular checkups can help manage any dietary challenges and ensure you're getting enough nutrients.

Food aversion sounds so difficult! Is it like, one day you love something, and the next, you can't even look at it without feeling sick? I'm worried about this happening if I get pregnant. Did anyone else here experience this severely, and how did you manage to eat?

Food aversion is really tough emotionally during pregnancy. You feel guilty for not eating what you 'should' or for hating foods you once loved. It's completely normal to feel frustrated. Just focus on eating whatever you can tolerate, even if it's just a few things. Don't let anyone make you feel bad about it, your body is doing a lot of work.

Food aversion is common in pregnancy; it's when you suddenly dislike foods you normally enjoy, or certain smells make you nauseous. A practical solution is to eat small, frequent meals of whatever you can tolerate. Don't force yourself. Focus on nutrient-dense foods that appeal to you, and always keep your doctor informed about your diet.
