What is considered a fever for a baby?

My baby, just a few months old, seems a bit warm and uncomfortable. What temperature is generally considered a fever for a baby? I always get confused and worry about taking them to the doctor too early or too late.

A baby is considered to have a fever if their temperature hits 100.4 F (38 C) or above. If they are on solids, avoid any heavy foods and stick to warm, easy fluids or breastmilk. Always consult your pediatrician before trying to change their feeding or giving any medicine.

In our days, we used to feel the baby's forehead, but nowadays doctors say 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit is the exact fever mark. You can gently wipe their body with lukewarm water to soothe them, but never use cold water. If the fever stays, please take the little one to a proper children's clinic.

Having raised three children, I can tell you that 100.4 F is indeed the standard fever threshold. Don't worry too much if it is just a minor rise; babies are quite resilient. Just track their wet diapers and make sure they are resting, but call the doctor if you feel uneasy.

Generally, 100.4 F is the temperature to watch out for as a fever. I usually prefer keeping the baby in a well-ventilated room and giving a light sponge bath to cool them down naturally. However, if the baby is younger than 3 months or the fever is very high, skip the home tips and go straight to the hospital.

My son had frequent spikes when he was a baby, and 100.4 F is definitely the medical definition of fever. I kept a logbook to write down the temperature every few hours to show our pediatrician. It really helps to stay organized so you don't panic during midnight spikes.

A baby's body is very sensitive, and 100.4 F is when they are said to have a fever. Keep a peaceful atmosphere around the baby, as they catch our stress very quickly. Stay calm, pray, and let the doctor guide you with the proper care and treatment.
