What is braxton hicks in pregnancy?

I'm in my second trimester, and sometimes I feel a tightening in my belly that doesn't feel like regular kicks. My friend said it might be 'Braxton Hicks'. What are Braxton Hicks in pregnancy?

Oh, these are those fake practice contractions that keep you awake at 3 AM thinking it's time, only for them to vanish when you drink some water! It is just your body testing the system. Honestly, as if we weren't sleep-deprived enough already!

Actually, they are just practice contractions, yaar. Your tummy gets really tight for a few seconds, but it's not real labor because there is no pattern. Just change your position or sit down, and it usually goes away.

Braxton Hicks are mild, irregular contractions that are completely normal in the second and third trimesters. They don't mean you are going into labor. Just drink a warm glass of water, rest on your left side, and they will settle down.

Think of it as your uterus going to the gym to practice for the big marathon! It is just a false alarm. If the contractions stop when you walk around, congratulations, it was just a false fire drill.

I felt my stomach tighten suddenly yesterday and got so scared that I was going into early labor! My doctor said it was just Braxton Hicks. Has anyone else felt this sudden tightening? It is so hard not to panic every single time it happens.
