What is a biochemical pregnancy?

I had a positive pregnancy test, but then my periods started. My doctor said it might have been a 'biochemical pregnancy'. What exactly is a biochemical pregnancy? I'm feeling a bit confused and sad.

A biochemical pregnancy is a very early miscarriage that happens shortly after the egg implants. I am so sorry if you are going through this, please take care of yourself.

I just experienced a biochemical pregnancy last month and I feel so heartbroken and lost. Did anyone else feel like their body failed them even though the doctor said it is common? I am so scared to try again.

It is basically a pregnancy that is only detected by chemical tests like urine or blood, but unfortunately ends before an ultrasound can see it. It is very common and actually shows you can get pregnant, so keep your hopes high! 🌸

In medical terms, a biochemical pregnancy refers to a very early loss, often within the first few weeks, where hCG levels rise briefly and then drop. While it is emotionally challenging, it is clinically very common and usually doesn't affect future fertility. It is best to consult your gynaecologist for personalized advice.

If you are monitoring this, don't waste too much money buying multiple expensive digital pregnancy kits at home. Just get a single quantitative blood test done at a local lab for 300-400 rupees. It is much more accurate and pocket-friendly for tracking.
