What illness causes weight gain?

I've noticed I'm gaining weight quite quickly, even though my diet and activity levels haven't really changed. Are there any specific illnesses that can cause unexplained weight gain?

Weight gain can be complex. Sometimes it's just diet and less movement, but there are medical reasons too. Hormonal issues like thyroid problems or PCOS in ladies are quite common. Also, some medicines can cause it. If it's sudden and without reason, better to get it checked by a doctor, rather than just trying home remedies.

Apart from eating too much and not exercising, some medical conditions definitely cause weight gain. Thyroid issues, especially hypothyroidism, is a common one. PCOS in women also leads to it. Some medications too. If you're exercising and still gaining, definitely see a doc. Maybe they'll allow some light walking to start.

I used to panic every time the scale went up! But then I realized sometimes it's just normal fluctuations. However, I found out later that my friend's sudden weight gain was due to her thyroid problem. So yeah, if it's unexplained and persistent, don't panic, but definitely get it checked by a doctor. It might be a simple fix.

I totally get the frustration of unexplained weight gain. I tried so many different diets and home remedies, but nothing worked. Turns out, my thyroid was acting up. Also, conditions like PCOS are big culprits for women. It's really best to talk to a doctor to rule out these medical reasons first, before just trying to 'eat less'.

Besides lifestyle factors, several medical conditions can lead to weight gain. Hypothyroidism is a major one, where your metabolism slows down. PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) is also very common among women. Even certain medications can cause it. If you're tracking your intake and activity and still gaining, a doctor can help rule out these underlying issues.

While diet and activity play a role, sometimes our bodies have deeper reasons for weight changes. Conditions affecting hormones like thyroid issues, or even stress, can contribute. Stay positive, eat mindfully, and practice self-care. But for a clear answer, consulting a physician is the best path to understand your body's specific needs.

I can't give medical advice, but I've seen friends struggle with unexplained weight gain. For one friend, it was a side effect of medication. For another, it turned out to be an underactive thyroid. So, it's not always just about diet and exercise. My personal experience says to always check with a doctor if something feels off.
