What helps with pcos facial hair?

I have PCOS and I'm really struggling with increased facial hair growth. It's making me feel very self-conscious. What can I do to help reduce or manage this?

Ugh, PCOS facial hair is the worst! So annoying and makes you feel so conscious. I just do threading and sometimes waxing, but it's a never-ending battle. Laser hair removal is what everyone talks about, but it's so expensive for us students, no?

As a fellow PCOS warrior, I can say facial hair is one of the most frustrating symptoms. While temporary removal methods like waxing or shaving exist, addressing the root cause (hormonal imbalance) is key. Talk to your gynaecologist about options like anti-androgen medications or laser hair removal. It's a journey, be kind to yourself.

For PCOS facial hair, it's mostly about managing the symptoms and the underlying hormonal issue. Your doctor might prescribe certain medications that help regulate hormones. For hair removal, laser is a longer-term solution, but consistent temporary methods like waxing or depilatory creams can also work. Choose what suits your skin and budget.

My endocrinologist explained that PCOS facial hair (hirsutism) is due to elevated androgen levels. She recommended a combination approach: medication like Spironolactone to reduce androgen effects, and external methods like laser hair removal for existing hair. She emphasized that diet and exercise also play a crucial role in managing PCOS overall, which indirectly helps with symptoms.

I'm not a doctor, so can't give medical advice. But from my personal experience with PCOS, managing my diet and stress levels definitely seemed to have a small positive impact on all my symptoms, including the hair growth. For direct hair removal, I found waxing to be okay, but it's just temporary.
