What helps bone on bone knee pain without surgery?

My doctor said I have 'bone on bone' in my knee, and the pain is quite bad. I really don't want to go for surgery if possible. Are there any effective ways to manage this kind of knee pain without an operation?

Bone on bone pain in the knee is tough. For my uncle, his doctor suggested reducing weight first, that helped a lot. Then, some very specific knee strengthening exercises from a physio, especially for the thigh muscles. He also uses a walking stick for support when he goes out. It's about managing daily life smartly.

This kind of pain requires patience and gentle care for your body. Try to keep your mind positive and focus on what you can do. Gentle movements, warm compresses, and maybe some meditation can help you cope with the discomfort. Always listen to your body and treat it with kindness.

Oh, that sounds incredibly painful! My nani also has severe knee issues. She swears by wearing good quality, supportive shoes always, even at home. And she does aqua therapy (exercises in water) which helps a lot because it reduces pressure. It's about finding what works for your specific pain.

Beti, ghutne mein jab itna dard ho, toh chalna bhi mushkil hota hai. Humare yahan toh log garam tel ki maalish karte hain aur thoda halka halka chalte hain. Zyada der khade nahi rehna chahiye. Aur baithte waqt bhi dhyan rakho, jhatka na lage. Bhagwan sab theek karenge, bas himmat mat haarna.

Bone on bone knee pain sounds absolutely terrifying. I'd be constantly scared of every step. Has anyone experienced significant relief just with physiotherapy? I'm worried if it's too late once it's bone on bone. Are there any non-surgical options that really provide long-term comfort?

My orthopedic colleague often recommends a multi-modal approach for severe knee osteoarthritis without surgery. This typically includes a combination of weight management, targeted physical therapy to strengthen surrounding muscles, bracing for support, pain medication, and sometimes even injections like hyaluronic acid or PRP to provide cushioning and reduce inflammation. Consulting a specialist is crucial.
