What happens when you are sleep deprived?

I've been working crazy hours lately and haven't been getting enough sleep, maybe 4-5 hours a night. I feel super tired and can't concentrate. What actually happens to your body and mind when you are sleep deprived for a long time?

Being sleep deprived is so tough, especially if you have other health conditions like PCOS, it can really mess with your hormones and energy levels. You feel super tired, irritable, can't concentrate, and sometimes even get headaches. It's important to prioritize sleep, even if it feels impossible, to support overall health.

Oh, when I'm sleep deprived, my body starts craving all the worst things! Sugary stuff, chips, anything to get an energy boost. My concentration goes for a toss, and I become super grumpy. It's like my brain just wants to hibernate with a plate of samosas.

Beta, when you don't sleep enough, your mind gets foggy, you feel tired all day, and even simple tasks become hard. It's not good for the body or the mind. I remember those sleepless nights, but you must make time for rest. It's like recharging your phone, without it, nothing works.

My son sometimes struggles with sleep. When he's sleep-deprived, he gets irritable, his grades drop a bit, and he's just generally unwell. It affects everything! Practical tips: try a consistent bedtime routine, switch off screens an hour before, and make sure the room is dark and cool. It helps a lot.

Lack of sleep can make you feel very out of balance, both physically and mentally. It affects your mood, your focus, and your general well-being. Remember to take care of your body, it's a temple. A good night's rest helps bring peace and clarity to your mind. Prioritize that inner calm.

Being sleep deprived is a huge trigger for me, especially with my thyroid. It makes me feel even more fatigued, my brain fog gets worse, and sometimes my mood swings are intense. It really highlights why proper sleep is non-negotiable. If you're constantly sleep-deprived, maybe get a full check-up including thyroid tests, and discuss it with your doctor.
