What happens to loose skin after weight loss?

I lost a good amount of weight recently, nearly 15 kg! While I'm happy with the weight loss, I'm now left with some noticeable loose skin on my arms and stomach. I'm trying to understand what can be done about this loose skin after weight loss, or if it improves over time.

Loose skin after weight loss is a really common concern. My fitness app's community discusses this a lot. It depends on age, how much weight you lost, and your skin's elasticity. Sometimes it retracts a bit with time and strength training, but for significant amounts, many people opt for cosmetic surgery. There are also creams that claim to help, but results vary.

It's simple physics, really. If you stretch skin a lot and then remove the volume underneath, it won't always snap back perfectly. The degree of loose skin depends on genetics, age, and the amount/speed of weight loss. For minor cases, strength training might help fill it out. For major cases, surgical removal is often the most effective solution.

After the beautiful journey of weight loss, sometimes the body needs a little more time to adjust. Loose skin is a physical manifestation of your past journey. Embrace your achievement! While some skin might naturally tighten with time, focus on inner peace and health. If it truly bothers you, consider speaking to a specialist, but do so with self-love.

This is a very common question after achieving significant weight loss! The amount of loose skin you're left with really depends on several factors: your age, genetics, how much weight you lost, and how quickly. Younger skin tends to have more elasticity. Building muscle underneath through strength training can sometimes help fill it out a bit, but for severe cases, surgery is often the most effective option. Be proud of your achievement, regardless!

Oh, this is exactly what I'm worried about! I'm on my weight loss journey, and I keep thinking about the loose skin. Does it ever go away on its own for anyone? I hear sometimes it tightens up naturally, but it still makes me anxious. Has anyone here had it tighten significantly without surgery?

Having PCOS, I know how frustrating body changes can be. After weight loss, loose skin is a common and often challenging side effect. Don't expect miracles overnight. It might tighten a little over time, especially with strength training, but for a lot of people, surgical options are considered. Be kind to your body and discuss realistic expectations with a doctor.

When we lose a lot of weight, the skin sometimes hangs loose, like a big dress that is now too big. It takes time for it to shrink, and sometimes it doesn't shrink completely. It can be a little uncomfortable. Drink plenty of water and eat good food. If it troubles you too much, ask a doctor, they might have some solutions.
