What happens in type 2 diabetes?

My mother was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes a few months ago, and we're still trying to understand everything. The doctor explained some things but I'm looking for a simpler explanation of what exactly happens in the body with Type 2 diabetes.

In Type 2 diabetes, your body either doesn't produce enough insulin or, more commonly, it becomes resistant to the insulin it does produce. This means glucose can't get into your cells for energy and builds up in your bloodstream, leading to high blood sugar. It's often linked to lifestyle factors like diet and lack of exercise, and can be managed or even reversed with changes.

When one has Type 2 diabetes, the body struggles to handle sugar well. It's often due to our modern way of life, with too much processed food and less movement. Through regular yoga and pranayama, I've seen how the body's systems can be harmonized, aiding in better glucose regulation. It's about bringing balance back within.

Type 2 diabetes is basically when your body isn't using insulin efficiently, so blood sugar stays high. It's often a result of being sedentary and a diet high in processed foods. I've seen people manage it really well with consistent exercise, lifting weights, and a balanced diet focusing on whole foods. It's about taking control of your lifestyle.

My doctor explained that in Type 2 diabetes, there's either insulin resistance, meaning cells don't respond well to insulin, or insufficient insulin production from the pancreas. This leads to hyperglycemia. Over time, persistently high blood sugar can damage nerves, kidneys, eyes, and heart. It's a progressive disease often managed with diet, exercise, oral medications, and sometimes insulin.

Oh, Type 2 diabetes! It's when your body isn't playing nice with insulin, making sugar build up in your blood. 😟 But guess what? A lot of times, small changes in diet and getting active can make a HUGE difference! 💪 So, don't lose hope, it's manageable! ✨

Type 2 diabetes is when your body struggles to use insulin effectively, leading to high blood sugar. Regular physical activity, like brisk walking for at least 30 minutes daily (if your doctor approves), is incredibly beneficial. It helps improve insulin sensitivity and can significantly impact blood sugar levels. Along with a healthy diet, it's a game-changer.
