What happens if you take metformin without having diabetes?

Someone I know was prescribed metformin for a different condition, but they don't have diabetes. My sister says it's a diabetes medicine. What are the effects if you take metformin without having diabetes?

Many people actually take metformin for weight loss or PCOS under doctor's guidance. If you took one by mistake, just drink plenty of water to flush it out of your system. If your stomach gets upset, eat simple curd rice to soothe it.

At my age, half my friends are on metformin and the other half are trying to avoid it. If you took it without having diabetes, you might just spend a little extra time in the bathroom today. Keep some ORS handy and enjoy the free stomach cleanse!

Congrats, you might experience the legendary metformin stomach rumble today! Honestly, unless you took a massive dose, you'll just have loose motions. Keep your toilet paper close and your phone fully charged, you'll be fine.

Metformin alters your gut biome slightly, which is why it causes gas and bloating. Since you don't have diabetes, make sure to eat light, home-cooked vegetarian food like khichdi today. Avoid any heavy dairy or sweets to prevent further stomach irritation.

Metformin is popular in some longevity and fitness circles for insulin sensitivity, though it's not officially recommended for healthy people. Track your energy levels and heart rate on your smartwatch today. If you notice any unusual drop in stamina, just take it easy and rest.
