What happens if you sleep with a bra on?

My cousin told me that sleeping with a bra on can cause health problems, but I find it more comfortable sometimes, especially with certain types. Is there any actual medical reason not to do it, or is it just a preference?

I totally get it, sometimes you are just too tired to change after a long day and fall asleep as it is. Sleeping in a bra is mostly a matter of personal comfort, though tight ones might feel a bit restrictive. Just do whatever makes you feel most comfortable and relaxed at night.

At my annual checkup at Apollo, I actually asked my gynecologist about this myth. She clearly said there is no medical harm or link to diseases like cancer at all. It is just about your circulation and skin comfort, so don't believe online rumors.

I used to overthink this so much because of all those scary posts on social media about blood circulation! I would panic if I accidentally fell asleep in my regular bra. It is reassuring to know that it is just a comfort choice and we don't need to stress over it.

Honestly, at this age, the first thing I want to do after coming home is take that tight bra off! Sleeping in it sounds like a self-inflicted torture. No medical harm will happen, but your body definitely deserves some breathing space at night.

There is no scientific evidence that sleeping with a bra causes any health issues. However, underwired or very tight bras can restrict lymphatic drainage and irritate your skin over time. For a good night's sleep, it is practically better to wear something loose and breathable.

As we grow older, keeping our body relaxed during sleep is very important for proper blood flow and keeping blood pressure stable. Wearing very tight clothing or tight bras at night can restrict your breathing and comfort. I always prefer loose cotton clothes for a peaceful sleep.
