What happens if you get tb?

A relative of mine was recently diagnosed with TB, and it's quite concerning. What happens to your body, and what kind of treatment is usually involved, if you get tuberculosis?

I was reading about this recently. Apparently, it starts with a persistent cough for more than two weeks, but the good thing is that India has a very strong program with free medicines to cure it completely.

Haan na, initially people get so scared thinking about TB. But if you take DOTS treatment regularly without skipping even one day, it clears up completely. Proper diet is also very important, ho na.

Decades ago, TB was considered a very dreaded disease, but things have changed so much now. I have seen many people in my lifetime recover fully and live long, healthy lives. Just trust the doctors.

Please be very careful and do not stop the medicines midway. My uncle stopped his TB treatment early because he felt better, and it turned into drug-resistant TB, which was much harder and longer to treat. Follow your doctor's exact timeline.

I just finished my 6-month TB course last month. The medicines can cause some nausea and orange urine, which is normal, but my lungs are completely clear now. Just stick to the course and eat high-protein food.

If you get TB, you can still work from home after the initial non-infectious phase, as long as you have the energy. Plan your doctor visits and medicine collections in advance so it doesn't disrupt your professional routine.

I ignored my low-grade fever and cough for three months, thinking it was just pollution, and ended up damaging a part of my lung. Please get a sputum test done immediately if you have a cough for over two weeks.

TB drains your physical stamina completely. Focus entirely on resting your lungs during the active phase, and only start light yoga or walking once your doctor says your lungs have healed enough.
