What happens if you don't get rem sleep?

Sometimes I wake up feeling completely unrested, like I haven't slept deeply at all. My wife mentioned something about REM sleep. What exactly happens to your brain and body if you don't get any REM sleep, or very little of it?

I completely understand how exhausting this is; when I wasn't getting enough REM sleep, I felt so emotionally drained and crying over tiny things. It is very hard when your brain doesn't get that emotional reset. Please be gentle with yourself.

Haan na, REM sleep is so important for our brain, otherwise we feel so foggy and forgetful the next day. Try to avoid looking at your mobile screen late at night, it actually blocks your deep sleep cycles, you know.

In our younger days, we didn't have these fancy trackers to measure REM sleep, but we knew that a heavy head meant we needed rest. Don't worry too much about these digital numbers, beta. Just eat a simple dinner early, sleep on time, and your body will take care of itself.

If your sleep is shallow and you are missing out on proper rest, try drinking a cup of warm milk with a pinch of nutmeg before bed. Nutmeg is excellent for relaxing the nervous system and helping you sleep deeply throughout the night.

My fitness tracker showed zero REM sleep on nights I slept late or drank alcohol. I started using a sleep tracking app to set a consistent bedtime wind-down schedule, and it really helped improve my sleep quality scores. Try optimizing your pre-sleep habits!
