What happens if you don't get cavities filled?

I have a small cavity that doesn't really hurt much, so I've been postponing going to the dentist. My friend said it's okay to wait if it's not painful. But what actually happens if you don't get cavities filled for a long time?

Bro, I ignored a tiny hole in my tooth for months and then one night it started hurting so bad I couldn't sleep at all. Had to run to an emergency clinic at 3 AM. Seriously, just go get it filled before it ruins your peace.

If you don't get it filled now, it will eventually require a root canal, which takes multiple long appointments and costs five times more. Save your weekend time and money by getting a quick 20-minute filling done this week itself.

When my wife had an unfilled cavity, it slowly chipped away and made it impossible for her to eat anything cold or sweet. Once she got it filled, she was perfectly fine. It is best to let a dentist examine it and decide.

I ignored a simple cavity because I was too lazy to visit the dentist, and the infection spread so deep that they had to extract the tooth completely. Now I have to get an expensive implant. Please learn from my mistake and get a checkup done immediately.
