What happens if you don't eat during pregnancy?

My sister-in-law is pregnant and often skips meals because she feels nauseous. My mother-in-law keeps telling her she *has* to eat. What happens to the baby and the mother if a pregnant woman doesn't eat enough or regularly?

Oh ho, if you don't eat, your baby will basically steal all the nutrients from your own bones and teeth, leaving you completely exhausted! You need that energy to survive the crazy sleepless nights later. Eat well, even if it is just small portions throughout the day.

Not eating properly can lead to low blood pressure, dizziness, and extreme weakness, which is very risky during pregnancy. My wife had high BP during her pregnancy and regular, balanced meals were crucial for keeping her levels stable. Please ensure regular checkups and follow the doctor's diet chart.

Skipping meals can lead to deficiencies, which means more expensive supplements and extra diagnostic tests later on. It is much more practical and cheaper to invest in simple, nutritious daily foods like seasonal fruits, milk, and dals to keep both mother and baby healthy.

Haan na, during pregnancy, eating can feel so difficult because of mood swings and smell issues. But you have to eat for your little one, na. Try having very simple things like khichdi or dry biscuits if you don't feel like eating heavy meals.

I had severe nausea and couldn't eat anything during my first trimester, which actually led to weakness and a hospital visit for IV fluids. Please don't ignore this. If you are unable to eat, consult your gynecologist immediately so they can prescribe safe anti-nausea medicines.

Not eating will cause your muscle mass to drop and make your recovery after delivery much harder. Even if you have a low appetite, try to focus on nutrient-dense foods like eggs, paneer, and nuts. Keep moving gently and stay hydrated.
