What happens if you can't pass kidney stones?

My uncle has been suffering from kidney stones for a while, and the doctors are saying some of them are quite big. He's trying to pass them naturally but it's been weeks. What happens if someone just can't pass kidney stones on their own?

My grandmother always suggests drinking barley water and tender coconut water to flush out small stones naturally. But if the stone is too big and blocking the urine path, it can cause infections or kidney swelling. Please consult a urologist and get a simple ultrasound done to see the size.

I was stuck with an 8mm stone last month and it just wouldn't budge even after drinking gallons of water. The pain got so intense that I had to go to the hospital. Eventually, the doctor did a small laser procedure to break it, and I was back home the next day. If the pain is too much, don't wait.

When my sister couldn't pass her kidney stone naturally, her doctor prescribed some specific medicine to relax the urinary tract, which helped her pass it in a few days. I can't recommend any medicines, but sharing this so you know there are non-surgical options too. Definitely talk to a specialist.

Oh god, kidney stone pain is my absolute worst nightmare, I get so anxious just thinking about it. If you are having severe back or side pain, please don't ignore it at all! Go to a clinic immediately because delaying it can cause complications, and you don't want that stress.

I was actually reading about this yesterday because my dad has a small stone. Apparently, if it stays stuck for too long, it can block urine flow and cause a lot of pain. It is best to get it checked before it becomes an emergency.

Please do not worry too much, kidney stones are very common and doctors have very simple ways to treat them now. Just try to drink enough warm water and rest well while you consult your doctor.
