My neighbour's son tested positive for TB last week and everyone in the society is quite worried. We are wondering what exactly happens after someone gets diagnosed with TB. What's the next step for them and their family?

Please do not panic, TB is fully curable nowadays with proper medicine. But you must go to a good government hospital or a chest specialist immediately to start the course. Do not delay this at all, and make sure you complete the full course even if you start feeling better in a month.

If you test positive, you need to start the government DOTS or private treatment immediately. Especially if you have diabetes like me, you have to monitor your blood sugar very closely during TB treatment because infections can spike your sugar levels. Eat healthy, low-sugar meals to help your body recover fast.

Actually, my roommate tested positive last year and we were so stressed, yaar. But honestly, the doctor gave him some daily meds and he was totally fine in a few months. Just take the medicine on time and don't skip a single day, that is the most important part.

If you have TB, the doctor will tell you to eat a lot of protein like eggs, paneer, and dal to gain back your strength. It is actually a good excuse to eat lots of nutritious, home-cooked food! Just avoid oily street food for a while so your liver can process the strong medicines easily.

Bro, my cousin had TB and he got his free medicines from the government health center. He had to take them for 6 months straight and now he is perfectly healthy and back in the gym. Just don't smoke and finish the whole course without any breaks.

Don't worry, TB is very common in India and the treatment is highly effective. You will be put on a multi-drug regimen for 6 to 9 months. Just remember to eat a good meal before taking your tablets to avoid acidity, and never stop the medicines mid-way without your doctor's clearance.
