What happens if pcos is left untreated?

I've been diagnosed with PCOS recently, and I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the information. My friend said I should take it seriously. What happens if PCOS is left untreated? Will it cause bigger problems later on?

Untreated PCOS often leads to insulin resistance, which can slowly turn into Type 2 diabetes over the years. It is very important to manage your carbohydrate intake, avoid refined sugars, and keep your daily activity high to protect your metabolic health.

It can lead to fertility issues, irregular periods, and a higher risk of endometrial hyperplasia if not managed on time.

If you leave PCOS untreated, it can cause severe hormonal imbalance, leading to hair loss, weight gain, and regular bloating. I found that eating a clean, plant-based diet high in green leafy vegetables and seeds helped regulate my cycles naturally, but do consult a gynaecologist first.

My gynaecologist explained that untreated PCOS means your ovaries are not regularly releasing eggs, which leads to a buildup of the uterine lining. This increases the long-term risk of endometrial cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Proper lifestyle modification and medical management are essential.

I have been dealing with PCOS for five years now, and ignoring it only made my acne and mood swings much worse. Don't worry, it is not curable but very manageable. Please find a supportive gynaecologist who understands your body instead of trying random internet tips.
