What happens if liver enzymes are high?

My husband recently got his blood tests done, and the report says his liver enzymes are high. The doctor just said to follow up, but I'm worried. What exactly happens if liver enzymes are high? Does it mean something is very wrong with the liver?

High liver enzymes usually mean your liver is crying for help because of all the heavy dinners and weekend parties. It is a sign of inflammation, often from a fatty liver. Time to say goodbye to samosas and alcohol for a while, and hello to boring boiled veggies.

If your liver enzymes are high, it usually points to fatty liver which is very common nowadays due to our sedentary lifestyle. Don't go for expensive detox juices. Just walk for 45 minutes daily, stop eating bakery items, and repeat the blood test after two months.

In my 60s, I saw my SGOT and SGPT levels shoot up during a routine health check. I panicked, but my doctor told me it is very common and completely reversible with daily morning walks and simple diet control. Don't worry, just cut down on oily food and give your liver some rest.

I know how scary it feels to see those high numbers on your blood report; I didn't sleep for two days when my SGPT was 120. But honestly, the liver is an amazing organ that heals very quickly once you make minor lifestyle changes. Take a deep breath and consult a doctor.

With thyroid issues, our metabolism slows down which often leads to a sluggish liver and high enzymes. I get my liver function tests (LFT) done along with my thyroid panel every six months. You should definitely consult a doctor to find the root cause instead of ignoring it.

Listen, high liver enzymes mean there is some irritation or damage starting in your liver. Stop self-medicating with random pain relief pills as they put more load on the liver. Go to a general physician, get an ultrasound done, and follow their advice strictly.

High liver enzymes (specifically AST and ALT) indicate that liver cells are inflamed and leaking these proteins into your blood. I track my daily macros and water intake on my fitness app to keep my liver health optimal. Try logging your food to see where the excess fats are coming from.
