What happens if i sleep with contact lenses?

Sometimes I'm so tired at night that I just fall asleep without taking my contact lenses out. My friend told me it's very bad. What happens if I sleep with contact lenses in? Can it cause serious problems?

Sleeping with these plastic things on your eyes is not safe at all, my child. If you forgot and did it, wash your eyes gently with cold, clean water immediately. Give your eyes rest for a whole day, do not wear lenses today, and maybe put a drop of pure rose water if there is minor irritation.

I did this once by mistake and woke up with very painful, red eyes. I immediately went to the eye hospital because corneal infections can become serious very fast. Please get an ophthalmologist to check your eyes clearly before using lenses again.

My body is already quite sensitive because of my hormonal struggles, so I am always extra careful with things like eye hygiene. If you slept in your lenses, they might have become very dry and stuck to the cornea. Don't pull them out dry; use some lubricating drops first to make them soft.

The eyes need natural rest and air to heal themselves during sleep. Keeping lenses on restricts this natural process and causes dryness. If you feel irritation, blink gently, splash water, and practice some simple eye-rolling movements to relax the optic nerves.

Look, stop doing this habit immediately. Sleeping with lenses blocks oxygen to your eyes and can lead to nasty infections. If you've done it tonight, take them out carefully right now, wash your eyes, and sleep in your glasses for the next few days. Simple as that.
