What happens if diabetes goes untreated?

My neighbour uncle, he got diagnosed with diabetes some time ago but he's not taking it seriously at all. He thinks it's nothing major. I want to know, what are the real consequences if it just goes untreated?

Welcome to the group. If diabetes is left untreated, the high blood sugar slowly damages your nerves and blood vessels over the years, leading to kidney or heart issues. However, with basic lifestyle changes and regular medication, you can lead a completely healthy life.

It can cause severe organ damage like kidney failure and vision loss. Please do not ignore it and consult a doctor immediately.

As someone managing diabetes for 8 years, I can tell you that ignoring it is a silent disaster. Untreated high sugar will damage your eyes and make any foot wound take months to heal. Keep a strict track of your carbs and check your HbA1c levels every three months.

My body already reminds me of my age every morning, and ignoring diabetes will just fast-forward you to a life of daily hospital visits. It secretly ruins your kidneys and heart while you think you are doing fine. Better to control it now than to regret it when your favourite sweets are banned forever.

While drinking bitter gourd juice and eating fenugreek seeds in the morning is great for support, you cannot treat diabetes solely with home remedies. If left untreated, it leads to severe nerve weakness. If you feel sudden numbness or extreme thirst, please see a doctor immediately.

If diabetes is not treated, it can lead to severe conditions like diabetic ketoacidosis. I go to a specialist hospital where they emphasize regular checkups. I highly recommend visiting a good physician who can guide you with the right path.

I completely agree with everyone here. Untreated diabetes slowly affects all vital organs, so getting regular blood checks is absolutely necessary.

Hey there! Untreated diabetes can cause some serious issues for your heart and kidneys over time. But the good news is that it is super manageable with simple food choices and active habits. Go see a doc and stay healthy!

Don't worry too much, but please don't take this lightly either. Untreated diabetes is bad for your health, but managing it is actually very simple once you start. Let's get a doctor's appointment booked this week, okay?

Actually, it is a silent killer, yaar. You won't feel anything major initially, but internally it slowly damages your blood circulation. Get a basic blood test done, it is super easy and saving your organs is totally worth it.

I was researching this for my college project. If diabetes is ignored, the excess sugar in the blood can actually damage the nerves, especially in the feet, leading to loss of sensation. It's really important to catch it and manage it early.

Leaving diabetes untreated allows high glucose to corrode your delicate micro-vessels. This is why many patients end up with kidney damage or diabetic retinopathy. Please take your readings seriously and start a basic management plan.

Don't fall for online ads promising to 'cure' diabetes in 30 days. Untreated diabetes causes irreversible kidney failure and blindness. Always consult an endocrinologist and get a proper prescription instead of self-medicating.
