What happens if a diabetic doesn't eat sugar?

My brother recently got diagnosed with diabetes and he's trying to cut down on sugar completely. He thinks that not eating any sugar at all is the best. What happens if a diabetic person completely avoids eating sugar?

Not eating added sugar is actually excellent and highly recommended for diabetics to avoid sudden spikes. However, completely cutting out healthy carbohydrates can sometimes cause your sugar to drop too low if you are on strong medicines. Please consult your doctor before making extreme changes.

I totally get it, giving up sugar is so hard, especially with all our Indian festivals and sweets. But when a diabetic stops eating refined sugar, their blood glucose levels stabilize and their pancreas faces much less strain. It makes managing the condition so much easier.

Honestly, cutting out white sugar is the best thing my diabetic uncle did. His energy levels are much more stable now and he doesn't get those random midday sugar crashes anymore. It is tough initially to skip sweets but totally worth it.

Avoiding refined sugar is a standard medical recommendation for all diabetics to prevent hyperglycemia. However, your body still needs complex carbohydrates for energy. Ask your doctor clearly about designing a balanced diet chart that fits your specific medication routine.

If you stop eating sweet things, your sugar levels will stay quiet and won't jump up and down. It is very good for your health, but do eat fresh vegetables and rotis so you don't feel weak. Take care of yourself.

My grandmother always said that bitter gourd juice is better than any sweet, but cutting out refined sugar is the real key. It helps prevent long-term complications like nerve and kidney damage. Just make sure to monitor your levels as advised by your doctor.
