What happens after you donate a kidney?

My uncle needs a kidney transplant, and I'm thinking of donating. But I'm a bit scared about what my life will be like after giving one of my kidneys. Will I be able to live a normal life and take care of my family like before?

Humare padosi ne apni behen ko kidney di thi, ab dono bilkul bhale change hain. Thoda samay lagta hai sharir ko pahle jaisa hone mein, par bhagwan ki daya se sab badhiya ho jata hai. Aap bas shuruat mein thoda aaram karein aur bhari saman mat uthayein.

After donation, you need to plan for regular follow-up tests like kidney function tests and blood pressure checks every year. Honestly, keep some budget aside for these annual tests and checkups because they are lifelong. Also check with your hospital if they provide any free lifetime OPD for donors, many big institutes actually do.

My husband donated his kidney to our relative, so I have seen this very closely. The first few weeks are all about pain management and slow walking in the room. Just make sure the donor has a clean space to avoid any infections, and they will be back to normal life in about six weeks.

Listen, doctors don't just take your kidney out and send you home. They do thorough testing to make sure you can live perfectly fine with one kidney. After the surgery, you will feel weak for some days and have some scars, but that is it. Bas high protein diet aur plenty of water habit bana lo, life normal chalegi.

My elders were very worried about weakness and asked me to take heavy herbal tonics after my donation. But I strictly followed our doctor's advice of balanced home food and regular salt-level checks. Ten years later, both I and the recipient are doing absolutely fine.

Haan na, starting mein thoda darr lagta hai ki kya hoga. But actually, the remaining kidney naturally grows a bit bigger to do the work of both. My brother is a donor and he plays sports and travels normally now, bas doc told him to avoid contact sports like football.
