What happens after 6 months of tb treatment?

My neighbor just completed her 6 months of TB treatment and is very relieved. I was wondering what generally happens after such a long course of medication for TB. Are there any follow-ups or specific precautions?

After completing 6 months of TB treatment, your lungs are usually healed, but your body might still feel weak from the heavy medications. If your doctor gives the green light, start with gentle 15-minute walks daily. Don't rush into heavy gym workouts immediately.

Completing the full 6-month course is a big milestone. Usually, doctors will do a final sputum test and chest X-ray to officially declare you cured. Stay strong, you are almost at the finish line.

My doctor at Medanta conducted a series of tests, including a chest X-ray and sputum culture, at the end of the 6th month. Only after seeing clear reports did he officially stop my medication. Please ask your pulmonologist clearly about these exit tests.

Haan na, 6 months of continuous medicine is so tiring. Once it's over, doctors check if the infection is 100% gone before stopping the tablets. Just don't stop the medicine on your own until the doctor says so, ho na.

I just finished my 6-month TB course last month! My energy levels are finally coming back and the constant coughing has completely stopped. Trust the process, take your medicines daily without skipping, and you will feel normal again very soon.

I would be constantly worrying if the bacteria is completely gone or if it will come back. But honestly, the 6-month course is highly effective. Just make sure to get all the final clearance scans done so you can have complete peace of mind.

According to standard protocol, standard drug-sensitive TB is treated for 6 months. My doctor explained that stopping medication requires clinical confirmation via sputum smear microscopy or culture. Even after stopping, a follow-up is usually recommended at 3 and 6 months to monitor recovery.

Having beaten pulmonary TB myself, I can tell you that the end of 6 months is a huge relief. However, your liver might need some time to recover from all the heavy drugs, so keep eating a highly nutritious diet and avoid alcohol completely for a few more months.
