What foods can't diabetics eat?

As a diabetic, I'm trying my best to control my sugar, but sometimes I'm not sure if what I'm eating is good or bad. Can you give me a clear list of what foods diabetics absolutely cannot eat? I want to be very strict with my diet.

Oh, the 'can't eat' list for diabetics is basically a list of all things delicious and tempting! Think mithai, cakes, pastries, sugary drinks like colas and packaged juices, white rice in large quantities, white bread, fried snacks... basically, if it tastes too good, it's probably off-limits! Just kidding (mostly!).

From what I've seen with my uncle, basically all the fun stuff! Haha. No sugary drinks, no sweets, no white bread or maida stuff. Processed snacks are also a big no. He eats mostly sabzi, dal, roti, and fruits in moderation. It's tough but gotta do it.

From my recent experience managing my blood sugar, the biggest culprits are refined carbs and added sugars. So, white rice, white bread, all forms of sugar (jaggery, honey, refined sugar), sugary drinks, and processed junk food are strict no-nos. Even some 'healthy' packaged foods can have hidden sugars. You really have to read labels.

Listen, this is not a game. I ignored my symptoms and my diet for too long, and it led to major issues. So please, don't take risks. Generally, avoid anything with high sugar, refined flour, and bad fats. This means cakes, biscuits, sugary drinks, fried foods. Your doctor will give you a proper diet chart. Follow it strictly. Don't be like me and regret it later.

Don't just google 'foods to avoid' and follow it blindly. What someone on the internet says might not apply to your specific condition or other health issues. Generally, yes, high sugar and refined carbs are bad. But the exact list, including portion sizes for certain fruits or grains, has to come from a medical professional. Get a proper diet chart from a doctor or dietitian.
