Kidney stones can be very painful. From my experience and what I've learned, staying very well hydrated with water is most important. Also, including lemon in your water often helps. Reducing sodium and animal protein might also be beneficial. Certain yoga postures and pranayama can help with pain management too, but always under guidance.
Ugh, kidney stones are the absolute worst pain. I just passed one a few months ago. My urologist told me to drink at least 3-4 liters of water daily, without fail. Also, reduce salt intake significantly. And for calcium oxalate stones, which are common, limit high-oxalate foods like spinach, beetroots, and nuts. Lemon water was a daily ritual for me.
I suffered from kidney stones for years and tried so many things. The most practical advice was consistent hydration – always have a water bottle nearby. Also, reducing sodium helped me a lot, and limiting things like chocolate and nuts because of oxalates. My doctor also suggested incorporating more citrus fruits. It's a long battle, but diet makes a huge difference.
For kidney stones, lot of water is key, even our grandmothers used to say that. Lemon juice in water, or kulthi dal (horse gram) soup, is also traditionally used. But if the pain is severe, or you have fever, please do not delay seeing a doctor. Natural remedies can help, but not replace medical advice for serious conditions.
Having PCOS, I know how frustrating it is when health issues impact daily life. For kidney stones, while general advice like drinking lots of water and reducing sodium is common, the type of stone (calcium, uric acid, etc.) dictates specific dietary changes. It's crucial to know the type, so a doctor's diagnosis and a dietitian's plan are essential. Don't risk it by self-diagnosing your food plan.
