What food is best for kidney problems?

My father recently got diagnosed with some kidney issues. The doctor said he needs to watch his diet very carefully. Can you suggest what kind of food would be good for someone with kidney problems?

For kidney problems, the diet is highly specific to the stage of the disease and individual lab results. There's no one-size-fits-all answer. Your nephrologist and a renal dietitian will create a plan. Generally, low sodium, controlled protein, and careful management of potassium and phosphorus are key. Please get a proper medical consultation.

I had some kidney issues a while back, and my dietitian put me on a low-sodium, low-potassium, low-phosphorus diet. So I focused on foods like white rice (in moderation), skinless chicken, egg whites, apples, berries, and green beans. It was strict but really helped my recovery. Every case is different though, so check with your doctor.

For kidney problems, my mother always said to eat simple, ghar ka khaana. Lots of fresh vegetables like cabbage, gourd, and carrots. And eat less salt and masalas. Drinking plenty of plain water is also very good. It keeps the body light and clean.

When kidneys are compromised, the focus shifts to reducing strain. So, lean proteins in controlled portions, low-sodium foods, and fruits/veggies that are low in potassium (like apples, berries, carrots) are generally good. Hydration is key but check water intake limits with your doctor. Regular, gentle movement also supports overall health.

My son has kidney issues, and for him, the diet is very careful. We give him foods like plain white rice, boiled veggies (after leaching), skinless chicken, and very limited dairy. No pickles, no papads, no packaged foods at all. It's a lot of effort, but it's important to stick to what the doctor and dietitian recommend exactly.

For kidney problems, honestly, the best home tip is to keep food as fresh and natural as possible. Less salt, less spice, more simple boiled vegetables like bottle gourd, ridge gourd. But if it's a serious condition, please don't rely only on home remedies. A doctor's guidance is absolutely essential to avoid further complications.
