What does progesterone do in pregnancy?

My doctor prescribed some progesterone supplements as I'm in my first trimester. I heard it's important but I'm not really sure what all it does for the baby and me. Can someone explain it simply?

It is the natural hormone that prepares the mother's womb to nurture the little baby. It can make you feel very warm and tired, so drinking warm milk with a little saffron and taking proper rest at home will help you feel better.

This hormone basically makes sure the baby is safe, but it also slows down the digestive system completely. That is why pregnant women suffer from so much gas and mood swings. Ah, the joys of parenting before the kid is even born!

Progesterone supports the pregnancy lining and prevents early contractions. It does cause constipation, so eating soaked raisins and drinking lots of water helps. But if you have severe cramping, don't rely on home tips and see your doctor.

I totally get it, those hormone spikes can make you feel completely exhausted and bloated. Just remember that this progesterone is doing the vital job of keeping your baby secure and growing inside you. Hang in there!

Hey, don't stress too much about the technical stuff! Progesterone is just your body's natural way of making sure the baby stays safe and sound in the uterus. It is doing its job, so just relax and eat well.

Progesterone keeps the uterus relaxed so there is no preterm labor risk. I had to take progesterone vaginal gels during my pregnancy to prevent early delivery. If your doctor has prescribed them, please take them on time without fail.

During my pregnancy, I learned that this hormone is what maintains the thick lining of the womb. It can make you feel very lazy and nauseous, but it is super important. Just focus on eating light meals and taking your vitamins.
