What does an ectopic pregnancy look like?

My sister is pregnant and she's worried about an ectopic pregnancy. From a medical standpoint, what does an ectopic pregnancy look like? I mean, what do doctors see inside the body?

This is a very difficult topic, and for those who've experienced it, it carries a lot of emotional weight. While you can't 'see' it from the outside, internal signs include internal bleeding if the tube ruptures, which can look very severe on scans. It's a painful and often traumatic experience, physically and emotionally.

You can't see it externally, but internally on an ultrasound, the embryo is outside the uterus. It's very serious.

I'm not sure what it means by 'look like'. Is it about what doctors see on a scan, or if there are any external signs? I'm curious but also a bit nervous to know.

Haan, you can't actually see it with your eyes. Doctors mostly find it on an ultrasound, where they see the pregnancy developing outside the uterus, usually in a fallopian tube. It's very important to catch it early na.

My wife had an ectopic pregnancy. You can't see it from the outside, but inside, on the ultrasound, they found the embryo growing in her fallopian tube instead of the uterus. Sometimes, if it ruptures, there can be internal bleeding, which is a critical situation. Always trust the doctors and get regular check-ups.
