What does a healthy kidney look like?

My doctor mentioned my kidney function tests are good, and that I should keep them healthy. I was just wondering, out of curiosity, what does a healthy kidney actually look like, maybe on an ultrasound or something?

A healthy kidney is shaped like a large bean and is usually reddish-brown. My doctor friend mentioned that on an ultrasound, a healthy kidney has a very clear, distinct outline with no dark cysts or stones. The tissue density should look uniform throughout.

It is basically a bean-shaped organ, about the size of a fist. I track my daily water intake on my health app to make sure they function well. If your kidney health is good, your filtration rate on tests will be in the normal zone, and everything looks smooth on scans.

Yes, it is bean-shaped and smooth. Keep drinking enough water daily to keep them functioning healthy and looking good on medical scans.

Physically, it is a reddish-brown, bean-shaped organ about 10-12 cm long. However, how it looks in medical textbooks is different from how it appears on an ultrasound. For any actual health concerns or scan reports, it is always best to let a qualified nephrologist explain the details.

It is a small, smooth, bean-like organ in our lower back area. My grandmother always said drinking coconut water keeps the kidneys clean, which is good, but we should always trust regular medical checkups and doctors to know if they are truly healthy.
