What does a false positive pregnancy test look like?

I took a home pregnancy test and it showed a very faint second line, but then it disappeared after some time. My period is also delayed. Can a pregnancy test show a false positive, and if so, what does that typically look like?

With PCOS, sometimes our hormonal fluctuations can cause faint lines or evaporation lines that look like a positive. It usually appears as a very thin, colorless greyish line that shows up after the reading time limit has passed. To avoid heartbreak, please verify with a blood hCG test at a lab.

A false positive looks exactly like a real positive or has a faint, thin evaporation line. It is best to get a doctor's blood test to confirm.

A false positive can look like a faint second line, sometimes caused by testing too early, certain medications, or reading the strip after 10 minutes. For your own safety and peace of mind, please visit a clinic and get a professional blood test done rather than guessing at home.

Sometimes a faint line can appear due to evaporation if the test sits for too long, looking like a false positive. Don't worry too much, just try testing again tomorrow morning or visit a doctor for peace of mind.

Haan na, false positives are so confusing and stressful. Sometimes it's just a faint gray line because the test dried up, which we mistake for a pink line. It's better to consult your doctor for a proper checkup, ho na.
