What do evaporation lines look like on pregnancy tests?

I took a home pregnancy test this morning, and there was a faint second line but it faded after some time. My friend said it might be an evaporation line. What do evaporation lines look like on pregnancy tests, and how are they different from a real positive?

I literally dealt with this last week. Evaporation lines look like a very faint, colorless or greyish shadow where the positive line should be, and they only appear after the test has dried past the 10-minute mark. If there is no pink or blue tint to it, it is definitely an evap line.

Oh god, I have spent hours staring at tests under my phone flashlight trying to figure this out. Evap lines are usually thin, faint, and look like a watermark rather than a proper colored line. Try to take another test tomorrow morning to ease your mind, I know how stressful the waiting is!

My gynaecologist explained that evaporation lines occur when urine evaporates from the test strip, leaving a faint, colorless indentation. A real positive line will always have pigment, like pink or blue depending on the brand dye, and it must appear within the time frame mentioned in the instructions.

These modern tests can really play with your eyesight and sanity. An evap line is basically a ghostly shadow that appears when the urine dries up, making you squint like you are solving a mystery. If you need a magnifying glass to see it, just toss it and test again in two days.

My wife and I once held a test up to three different lights trying to decode a faint line that turned out to be just dried-up ink! Evaporation lines are basically the test's way of trolling you. If it doesn't have a clear pink color, it's just a blank line playing tricks.

An evaporation line is usually just a grey, faint streak that shows up late when the test gets completely dry. When my wife was going through this, the stress was shooting my blood pressure up too. Save yourself the tension, get a clear digital test or visit a clinic for a blood test.

I once dismissed a very faint line as just an evaporation line and delayed seeing my doctor, only to find out later I actually had an ectopic pregnancy. Please don't guess if you are unsure or feeling any abdominal discomfort. Get a quick beta-HCG blood test done at a lab to be absolutely sure.
