What causes upper back pain?

I sit at a desk all day for work, and lately, I've developed a constant pain in my upper back. It's really bothering me. What are the common causes of upper back pain?

From my own practice, gentle chest-opening stretches and deep breathing can beautifully release the tension in the upper spine. Often, it is just accumulated stress and bad posture. Try some light neck and shoulder rolls, but stop immediately if it hurts.

I was actually reading up on this because my desk job is giving me bad posture issues. It seems poor sitting habits and weak shoulder muscles are the biggest culprits for upper back stiffness. Still trying to find out what exercises work best.

Bhai, sometimes lifting heavy water buckets or sleeping on a hard pillow causes this back pain. Rest for a few days and apply some warm mustard oil gently. If the pain doesn't go, please show it to a doctor in town.

Most of the time it is just our laptop screens calling us to slouch! 💻 A little bit of moving around every hour really helps keep the upper back happy. Do take a break and stretch today! 😊

When I had persistent pain between my shoulder blades, I went straight to a specialist hospital to get an X-ray. It's much better to ask a doctor clearly instead of guessing the cause. It could be muscular or a spine-related issue.
