What causes pregnancy induced hypertension pih?

My blood pressure has been a bit high lately, and my gynaecologist mentioned something about PIH. I'm a bit worried about it. What exactly causes this pregnancy-induced hypertension?

I was reading about PIH because my cousin had to suddenly cut out all her favorite pickles and street foods because of high BP. Apparently, how the blood vessels in the placenta develop can trigger this hypertension. It is so tough to eat bland, low-salt food when you have pregnancy cravings!

I had high BP during my second pregnancy and tried drinking coconut water and garlic, which helped keep me calm, but PIH is a serious condition related to the placenta. Home remedies can support you, but you must take the BP medicines prescribed by your doctor to keep the baby safe.

If you are diagnosed with PIH, you will need frequent blood tests, urine tests, and growth scans to monitor the baby. Plan your budget in advance for these extra checkups, and buy a reliable digital BP monitor to check your levels at home daily, which saves clinic visit costs.

Look, PIH is not something you can ignore or treat with ginger tea. It happens because of how the placenta attaches and affects your blood circulation. Buy a BP machine, check it twice a day, and if the reading is high, go straight to your doctor without wasting any time.

I completely panicked when my BP touched 140/90 in my eighth month, thinking it would harm my baby. But my doctor put me on mild BP tablets, advised bed rest, and everything went completely fine with a normal delivery. It is manageable if you catch it early and follow advice.

Having PCOS puts us at a slightly higher risk for pregnancy-induced hypertension due to existing insulin resistance and vascular issues. I kept a close watch on my symptoms and worked closely with my OB-GYN. Don't worry, but definitely get your BP checked at every single appointment.

High BP during pregnancy is basically the body's way of protesting against all the hard work of growing a human. It's caused by placental vascular changes, which is a fancy way of saying your blood vessels are stressed. Just listen to the doctor, rest, and let your spouse handle the household work.
