What causes pain behind the knee?

I've been feeling a persistent ache behind my right knee, especially when I walk or climb stairs. It started about a month ago and isn't going away. What could be causing this discomfort?

Actually, it can be a Baker's cyst, which is basically fluid gathering behind the joint, yaar. Don't worry too much, but getting an ultrasound done is best to make sure it's not a ligament issue.

I got this exact pain behind my knee after sitting in library chairs for 8 hours straight during exams. It is usually just muscle stiffness or a hamstring pull, so try some basic leg stretches first.

Sitting for long hours at a desk can cause a tight hamstring or even a Baker's cyst behind the knee. Honestly, don't sit on it for days; just get a quick physiotherapist consult on your weekend and get a proper stretch routine.

I had a calf tendon strain that felt like a sharp pinch behind the knee every time I squatted. My tip is to rest it, avoid deep bending for a week, and see an orthopaedic specialist if it doesn't get better.

Whenever my knee hurts behind, I start panicking about blood clots or DVT and get super stressed. It usually turns out to be just muscle tightness from walking weirdly, but please see a doctor to be absolutely safe.
