What causes gerd in pregnancy?

I'm in my second trimester, and I've been experiencing severe heartburn, especially after meals and at night. My friend said it could be GERD. What commonly causes GERD during pregnancy?

Pregnancy mein acidity and heart burn bohot pareshan karte hain, haan na. It happens because the growing baby puts pressure on our stomach, forcing the acid upwards. Try having cold milk in small sips, it really helps to calm the throat.

I completely understand how terrifying it feels when you get sudden chest pain from acid reflux and think something is terribly wrong. During pregnancy, progesterone hormone relaxes the stomach valve, causing GERD. It is highly uncomfortable, but please know you are safe and this is very common.

Chewing a little fennel seeds after food or drinking tender coconut water in the morning can cool down your stomach acid. But if you are unable to eat anything or keep vomiting, please see your gynecologist. Do not take over-the-counter antacids without asking them.

Our elders always advised pregnant daughters to sit upright for at least half an hour after eating. Avoid sleeping immediately after lunch or dinner as it makes the acid rise. Drinking fresh buttermilk with a little cumin powder can naturally soothe the stomach.

I had terrible heartburn during both my pregnancies, to the point where I couldn't sleep at night. It is just because of the pregnancy hormones relaxing the food pipe. Don't worry, the moment the baby is born, this severe acidity disappears overnight.

My wife kept ignoring her severe heartburn thinking it was just normal pregnancy gas, but it turned into severe throat irritation and she couldn't swallow food. Please consult your doctor and get a safe antacid prescribed instead of suffering silently like we did.

GERD during pregnancy is mostly due to hormonal changes relaxing your digestive muscles. Eating smaller, frequent meals and keeping your head elevated with a pillow while sleeping can help a lot. Take care and take things easy.

Oh, that burning throat feeling is basically the classic pregnancy symptom! Hormones slow down our digestion, plus the baby is taking up all the room in there. Eating tiny meals and avoiding spicy snacks helped me survive this phase.
