What causes big babies in pregnancy?

My sister is pregnant and her doctor mentioned that the baby is measuring quite large. We're wondering what factors can contribute to a baby being bigger than average at birth.

During my pregnancy, keeping the body flexible and calm through gentle prenatal yoga was helpful, but baby size is mostly determined by genetics and maternal sugar levels. Keep a gentle, balanced lifestyle and stay positive.

Haan na, sometimes genetics are responsible, or maybe gestatonal diabetes can cause big babies. Actually, standard ultrasound measurements can also be a bit off sometimes. Don't worry, just discuss with your doctor.

While we try many traditional foods during pregnancy, a very big baby (macrosomia) is often due to high blood sugar levels in the mother. It is very important to manage your diet and follow your doctor's medical advice rather than trying home remedies to control baby size.

I ignored my slightly high sugar readings during my second trimester thinking it was normal, which made my baby grow very large and led to an emergency C-section. Please take every single sugar test seriously and monitor your diet.

Do not listen to random advice about eating certain foods to increase or decrease baby weight. Baby size is complex and monitored scientifically via ultrasound. Always verify with your OB-GYN.

My sister just had a big healthy baby boy! Sometimes it is simply because the parents themselves were big babies at birth. Just eat healthy, stay active, and enjoy your pregnancy journey.

From what I see in the clinic, gestational diabetes is one of the most common causes of a larger-than-average baby. Genetics and maternal weight gain also play a huge role. Make sure you get your oral glucose tolerance test done on time.

A larger baby can sometimes lead to delivery complications, so it is highly important to keep your gynaecologist informed and get regular scans. Please ensure your sugar levels are strictly monitored for safety.

Lifestyle plays a huge part in pregnancy outcomes, just like managing blood pressure. High maternal weight gain or blood sugar spikes can cause the baby to grow larger. Regular clinical checkups are the only way to track this safely.

Basically, it comes down to monitoring your blood sugar and keeping a track of your diet during the trimesters. If the doctor suspects a big baby, they will plan the delivery accordingly. Just follow the ultrasound schedule and don't skip tests.
