What can cause knee pain without injury?

I've been experiencing knee pain recently, but I haven't had any fall or injury. It's quite strange and concerning. What are some possible reasons for knee pain when there's no obvious injury?

Once you cross 50, your knees start acting like weather reporters, aching before it even rains! Jokes apart, it is usually just osteoarthritis or cartilage wearing out over time. A visit to the doc and some daily walking helps keep them greased.

My thyroid imbalance caused severe muscle weakness and joint pain, especially in my knees, which felt like an injury but wasn't. Regular blood tests and getting my hormone levels right resolved the pain. Please consult a doctor and check your vitals first.

Applying warm mustard oil with fenugreek seeds can give nice temporary relief for dry, aching knees. But if the pain is due to high uric acid or lack of calcium, home massage won't solve the root cause. Do see a proper doctor for checkup.

I was reading about this because my knee started hurting out of nowhere after I sat at my desk for 10 hours. Apparently, lack of physical movement and weak hamstring muscles can make your kneecap go out of alignment, causing dull pain. Quite interesting how inactivity hurts as much as an injury.

As someone managing high BP, my doctor told me that excess body weight puts double the pressure on our knees with every step. Improving your diet, losing weight, and regular orthopedic checkups can significantly reduce this load and the pain.
