What body cavity is the kidney in?

My father recently had a check-up and they were talking about his kidneys. I'm curious, in which part of the body, or which cavity, are the kidneys actually located?

The kidneys are located in the retroperitoneal space, behind the abdominal cavity. This means they are protected. If you're feeling any pain or discomfort in that region, please get it checked by a doctor right away. Don't take chances with your kidneys.

I totally get wanting to know exactly where everything is! The kidneys are located in the retroperitoneal space, which is technically behind the abdominal cavity, near your back. It's good to understand your body better. If you have any concerns about kidney health, please talk to a doctor.

Kidneys, ah, they must work hard to filter all the delicious but sometimes unhealthy food I eat! They're actually in the retroperitoneal space, kind of behind your main abdominal cavity, near your lower back. So important for everything! Keep them happy with lots of water.

From my experience, the kidneys are not strictly *inside* the abdominal cavity in the front. They are in the retroperitoneal space, meaning behind the peritoneum (the lining of the abdominal cavity). They sit on either side of your spine, protected by your lower ribs. Staying hydrated is super important for them!

The kidneys are located in the retroperitoneal space. This means they are behind the abdominal cavity, on either side of the spine, usually between the T12 and L3 vertebrae. It's a protected location. Always good to understand basic anatomy, and if you have specific health concerns, a doctor's visit is best.
