What blood tests are done during pregnancy?

My friend just found out she's pregnant, and she's getting all these blood tests done. I'm planning to start a family soon, so I was wondering what are the usual blood tests one has to go through during pregnancy? Just trying to be prepared!

In the first trimester, we always advise routine screens like Complete Blood Count, Blood Grouping, thyroid, and blood sugar. These are just basic baseline markers to ensure both mom and baby are safe. Just follow your gynaecologist's timeline.

My doctor wrote a whole list of tests like CBC, HIV, Rubella, and some sugar tests. Honestly, I got so nervous seeing so many needles on my first visit. Did anyone else also feel super anxious about these routine blood tests?

With my PCOS history, they were very careful and checked my sugar levels first with an OGTT. Apart from that, they usually check CBC, thyroid, and blood group compatibility. Don't worry, your doctor will give you the exact list based on your health history.

I literally cried when they asked for a double marker and gestational diabetes screening, thinking something was wrong. But actually, these are standard protocol for every single pregnant lady! Everything came out fine, so please don't stress.

Hey, congrats! They usually do a complete blood panel including hemoglobin, blood group, thyroid, and infectious diseases in the beginning. It's totally routine. Just have a light snack with you in case you feel dizzy after giving blood.
