What birth controls don't cause weight gain?

I'm trying to decide on a birth control method, but the fear of gaining weight is holding me back. My cousin had this issue, and she really struggled. Can someone suggest which birth controls don't cause weight gain?

Hey, this is such a valid concern for so many of us! From what I've learned, non-hormonal methods like the copper IUD are generally the best if you're worried about weight gain, as they don't involve hormones. For hormonal options, some low-dose pills might have less impact. It's really worth having a detailed chat with your gynaecologist to figure out what's best for your body.

Please, please be very careful about this. I had some complications once by not consulting a doctor properly. For birth control and weight gain, it is highly individual. While non-hormonal options like the copper IUD are generally considered to have no weight gain effect, hormonal methods vary. You MUST see a gynaecologist to understand the risks and benefits for YOUR body.

For birth control without weight gain, the most practical solution I know is the copper IUD because it doesn't have hormones. My sister uses it and hasn't had any issues. For pills, they usually say low-dose ones are better, but it's really a gamble with your body. Just go to a trusted doctor, they'll simplify it for you.

Dekho, simple baat hai. Weight gain nahi chahiye toh non-hormonal options dekho. Copper T (IUD) is the main one. Hormonal pills ka har body pe alag asar hota hai, kisi ko hota hai, kisi ko nahi. Toh sabse pehle, ek achhe doctor se consult karo. Woh tumhari medical history dekh ke best option bataenge.

My doctor explained that the copper IUD (non-hormonal) is the only birth control method that definitively does not cause hormonal weight gain. For hormonal options, like pills, implants, or hormonal IUDs, any weight changes are usually minimal and can be fluid retention, but it's very individual. Low-dose formulations are often suggested for those concerned about weight, but a comprehensive discussion with your Gynae is essential.

I've seen my wife go through this decision, and it's tough. While I usually suggest home remedies, for something like birth control, it's a medical choice. Most often, the non-hormonal copper IUD is cited as not causing weight gain. But even with that, every person's body reacts differently. My practical advice is to talk to a good gynaecologist, they can suggest the most suitable option for you.
