I had a shivering fit with high fever last monsoon and was convinced it was malaria, but it was just a viral flu. Don't panic, but if you do have malaria, the fever usually comes in cycles with intense shivering followed by heavy sweating. A simple blood test will clear the doubt quickly!

Malaria typically presents with high fever, severe chills (shivering), body ache, and vomiting. The symptoms usually start 10 to 15 days after the mosquito bite. Get a rapid diagnostic test (RDT) or blood smear done at any local lab so you can start the correct antimalarial course if needed.

I have seen many malaria cases in our locality during rainy seasons. The hallmark is that the patient feels freezing cold and shivers under three blankets, and then suddenly feels very hot and sweats. Do not delay, get a blood test done within 24 hours of the first fever spike.

When you have PCOS, any severe body ache and fever can feel extra draining. Malaria causes intense fatigue, headache, and severe muscle pain along with the fever. Please take good care of yourself, stay hydrated, and consult a general physician for a proper blood test.

My younger brother had malaria last year, and he had a terrible headache and kept throwing up whatever he ate. His fever was spiking every evening like clockwork. We got him tested immediately and the doctor prescribed some pills which cured him in a few days.

Look, if you are shivering with high fever and your body is aching like crazy, it is most likely malaria or dengue. Don't waste time taking random paracetamols at home thinking it will go away. Go to a clinic, get the blood test done, and let the doctor handle it.
