What are the symptoms of knee pain?

My knees have been aching quite a bit, especially after a long walk or climbing stairs. It's not constant but enough to bother me. What are the common symptoms of knee pain that people experience?

When my knee started clicking and swelling up after jogging, I went straight to an orthopaedic specialist at a major hospital. They did an MRI to check for ligament tears. Don't guess if it is arthritis or a meniscus issue; ask a proper doctor to do physical tests and get an X-ray done.

I was researching this because my knee hurts whenever I sit cross-legged for too long in college. Is it normal to have a dull ache behind the kneecap, or could it be due to wearing flat footwear all the time? Just trying to understand before I book an appointment.

Beta, as we age, the lubrication in the joints reduces, causing a grating sensation and pain when folding the legs. Massaging gently with warm sesame oil and applying a warm compress can give relief. But if there is redness, heat, or you cannot put weight on your leg, consult a doctor immediately.

Yes, I also get that annoying locking feeling in my knee sometimes. Doing gentle hamstring stretches everyday has helped reduce the morning stiffness significantly.

Knee pain usually starts with stiffness in the morning or a dull ache when climbing stairs. I found that wearing a simple knee support sleeve, doing basic straight leg raises, and avoiding sitting on the floor helps a lot. If the pain is minor, these simple changes make life much easier.

My knees now make more noise than my car! That clicking and popping sound when squatting is so common, but if it comes with actual sharp pain or swelling, that's your body's way of saying 'stop acting like you are 18' and go see a doctor.
