What are the symptoms of heat stroke and heat exhaustion?

My little brother works outdoors, and with the summer coming, I'm concerned about him getting sick. Can someone please clearly explain the difference and symptoms of both heat stroke and heat exhaustion?

I just went through this last week during the heatwave. Heat exhaustion started with heavy sweating, extreme weakness, and a nasty headache, but when it progressed towards heat stroke, I stopped sweating completely, my skin felt burning hot, and I got super dizzy. Please take it seriously and get inside an AC room immediately if you feel this way.

Let's be clear: heat exhaustion makes you sweaty, weak, and nauseous, but heat stroke is a life-threatening emergency where your brain shuts down and you stop sweating. If you see someone confused, vomiting, or fainting in this heat, don't waste time with home remedies. Call an ambulance or rush them to the hospital immediately.

Haan na, this summer is so bad that heat exhaustion is very common, people get dizzy, sweaty, and feel like vomiting. But heat stroke is much worse because the body temperature goes very high and the person can even faint, ho na. We must drink lots of kokum sharbat and avoid going out in the afternoon.

For heat exhaustion, the best practical cure is immediately moving to a cool shade, loosening tight clothes, and slowly drinking ORS water or salted buttermilk. But if it turns into heat stroke—where there is high fever and confusion—apply ice packs under the armpits and neck, and get medical help right away.

Bro, during college sports day, my friend got so exhausted from the heat, he was sweating like crazy and complaining of muscle cramps and headache. The doc told us that was heat exhaustion, but if he had fainted or had hot dry skin, it would have been a heat stroke. Always carry a water bottle with glucose during summers, guys.

I am actually quite new to understanding this, but does heat exhaustion always lead to a heat stroke if we don't treat it? I read that heat exhaustion causes a lot of sweating and cold skin, while heat stroke is the opposite with hot, dry skin and confusion. How can we easily tell them apart in an emergency?

Heat exhaustion is basically your body screaming, 'Hey, give me water and AC right now!' with lots of sweat and dizziness. Heat stroke is when your body's cooling system goes on strike, stops sweating, and turns you into a human microwave. Keep drinking your nimbu paani so you don't reach the microwave stage!

My son got heat exhaustion during his school sports practice; he was pale, sweating heavily, and felt like throwing up. I immediately made him lie down, put cold wet towels on his head, and gave him small sips of ORS water. Parents, please watch your kids closely in this heat and don't let them play in the afternoon sun.

As a nurse, I tell everyone to remember the difference: exhaustion means cold, clammy skin and heavy sweating, while stroke means hot, red, dry skin and mental confusion. If someone is exhibiting stroke symptoms, do not give them water to drink as they might choke. Just cool them down with wet sheets and call for medical help.

Beta, in our days we always drank raw mango panna or barley water before stepping out in the summer to prevent heat sickness. Symptoms like extreme sweating and tiredness mean the body is overheating. While these traditional drinks help soothe heat exhaustion, a true heat stroke with high fever needs immediate English medicine and doctor's attention.

Please do not take these summer symptoms lightly or assume they will just go away with rest. Heat exhaustion can turn into a dangerous heat stroke very quickly, affecting your organs. If someone has a high fever, severe headache, or feels faint after being in the sun, please get them checked by a doctor immediately.

If your field job requires travel in peak hours, you must recognize the signs. Heat exhaustion involves headache, dizziness, and muscle cramps, which you can manage by resting and hydrating. But if you see symptoms like confusion, slurred speech, or a racing heart, that's heat stroke—stop working and go to a clinic immediately.

Being diabetic, extreme heat dehydrates me much faster, making me highly prone to heat exhaustion symptoms like dizziness, nausea, and heavy sweating. If you are managing blood sugar, make sure to drink sugar-free electrolyte drinks or plain lime water with salt to stay safe, and get out of the sun immediately if you feel weak.

Last week I felt so dizzy, nauseous, and kept sweating continuously after just a 10-minute walk in the sun. Has anyone else felt this kind of sudden exhaustion so quickly? I was so scared it was a heat stroke, but luckily after resting under the fan and drinking water, it went away.

I get so anxious reading about this because the symptoms can escalate so fast. Heat exhaustion causes heavy sweating, a rapid pulse, headache, and weakness, which is scary enough. But if it turns into a heat stroke with high fever, confusion, or fainting, it's a major emergency, so please keep a thermometer and ORS handy.
