What are the symptoms of fever in humans?

My son came home from school yesterday with a slight temperature and looked flushed. I just want to cross-check what the general symptoms of fever in humans are, so I know if it's more than just a regular cold.

Honestly, the main symptom for me is shivering under three blankets while my forehead feels like a hot tawa. You also get this weird body ache where even your hair roots seem to hurt, and you just want to sleep for 48 hours straight. If you feel hot to the touch and super weak, just grab a thermometer and check.

A fever is the body's natural way of burning away toxins and fighting infections. You will experience a warm body temperature, sweating, mild shivering, and a natural loss of appetite as the digestive fire slows down. Rest quietly, drink warm water, and let your body heal naturally unless the temperature goes too high.

Drinking warm ginger-tulsi tea and keeping cold water strips on the forehead help lower mild fevers comfortably. However, if the fever goes above 102°F, or if you have severe chest pain, breathing difficulty, or a stiff neck, home remedies won't work. In those cases, please see a doctor immediately.

Fever typically presents as a body temperature above 99.5°F, accompanied by chills, headache, and muscle aches. It is very common to feel completely drained of energy and have a dry mouth. Keep checking the temperature every 4 hours and make sure to stay hydrated with coconut water or ORS.

Even a mild fever with chills, body pain, and headache should be monitored closely. Please do not just self-medicate with random tablets, as a fever can be a symptom of many underlying infections like typhoid, dengue, or Covid. It is always safest to consult a doctor and get a blood test if it doesn't go away in two days.

When you get a fever, your blood sugar levels can spike unexpectedly due to physical stress. Along with hot skin, chills, and fatigue, watch out for how your glucose levels are reacting. Make sure you drink sugar-free fluids to stay hydrated and consult your doctor to manage both the fever and your diabetes safely.
