A bruised kidney, usually caused by blunt trauma to the back or side, typically presents with blood in the urine and severe flank pain. You might also experience nausea or localized bruising. Given the risk of internal bleeding, clinical evaluation and an ultrasound are absolutely necessary.
I got a bad hit during a match once and bruised my kidney. The back pain was so sharp I couldn't even bend, and my urine was dark red. The doctor put me on strict bed rest and told me to drink plenty of fluids, but only after doing a scan to make sure there was no major tear.
If you recently had a fall or got hit on your back, keep a close watch on your urine. If it looks pinkish or cloudy, or if the pain on your side is getting worse when you breathe, please don't wait at home. Go to an emergency room and get a basic urine test done.
I completely understand how scary it is when you suspect a kidney injury. I panicked so much thinking the worst when I had back pain after an accident. Try to take a deep breath and go see a doctor today; getting a scan will put your mind at ease.

A bruised kidney is not something you can treat with rest alone without knowing the extent of the damage. If you have fever, dizziness, or blood in your pee, it could be a medical emergency. Please get to a hospital immediately for safety.
