What are the causes and symptoms of dandruff?

I've been having dandruff for a long time, and it's really bothersome. Sometimes my scalp feels itchy and flaky. What are the common causes and symptoms of dandruff so I can understand it better?

Sometimes dandruff can be linked to other health conditions, just like thyroid issues can affect hair. While it's usually just dry scalp or a fungus, I'd say if it's persistent and nothing helps, perhaps get a general check-up. Hormonal imbalances can sometimes show up in unexpected ways. Always wise to keep an eye on your overall health.

Dandruff is so common, don't worry. The main causes are usually a dry scalp, not washing hair enough, or a common yeast called Malassezia. Symptoms are white flakes and an itchy scalp. A simple solution is using an anti-dandruff shampoo regularly. Also, make sure you wash your hair properly, especially in summer.

Dandruff can be really annoying and make you feel self-conscious, I totally get it. I used to feel so embarrassed about the flakes on my clothes. It's often caused by a common yeast on the scalp or just dry skin. The main symptom is obviously the flakes and itching. What helped me emotionally was finding a good anti-dandruff shampoo that actually worked and reduced the constant worry.

Dandruff is pretty common, especially if you sweat a lot during workouts and don't wash your hair properly afterwards. A common cause is a yeast called Malassezia. Symptoms are itching, flaking, and sometimes redness. Proper hygiene and diet can play a role, making sure you get enough good fats. Use a good anti-dandruff shampoo, that's step one!

If your dandruff is really severe or persistent, it's best to consult a dermatologist. I had a friend whose persistent dandruff turned out to be a more serious scalp condition. A good doctor will properly diagnose if it's just dry scalp, fungal, or something else like seborrheic dermatitis. Don't hesitate to ask your doctor clearly about the cause and best treatment for *your* specific case.
