What are symptoms of hashimoto thyroid disease?

My doctor mentioned my thyroid levels are a bit off and wants to investigate further. She said a word 'Hashimoto's'. What are the symptoms of Hashimoto's thyroid disease? I'm feeling a bit tired often.

Oh, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's a couple of years ago! Initially, I felt extremely tired all the time, like no matter how much I slept. My hair started falling out more than usual, and I was gaining weight despite eating normally. Also, I felt cold easily. It was super confusing till the TSH test confirmed it.

I can't give medical advice, but I remember a friend talking about how she felt really sluggish and forgetful, and her skin became very dry when she was diagnosed with Hashimoto's. She also mentioned some muscle aches. It's a condition where the symptoms can be really varied, so it's good to get a proper check-up if you suspect something is off.

My wife has this. The main symptoms she had were constant fatigue, feeling cold even in warm weather, and a bit of puffiness in her face. Also, constipation was an issue. The practical solution is to get a full thyroid panel test (TSH, T3, T4, and antibodies) and consult an endocrinologist. Medicines help a lot, but you have to be consistent.

In our village, one lady had this. She was always feeling sleepy and sad, no energy for anything. Her throat also looked a bit swollen. The doctor said her body was fighting its own thyroid. Simple tests can find it, so if you feel like this, please go to the doctor, don't ignore it. Take care.

My sister had these symptoms and it was Hashimoto's. The initial tests, like TSH, are not too expensive, thankfully. But if they suggest more specialized tests like anti-TPO antibodies, it can be a bit costly. So, plan your doctor visits and tests smartly. Don't delay the diagnosis, but also check if your health insurance covers these. Early treatment is important.

Hashimoto's is an autoimmune condition where your body attacks your thyroid, leading to hypothyroidism. Common symptoms include chronic fatigue, weight gain, constipation, dry skin and hair loss, muscle aches, increased sensitivity to cold, and sometimes a swollen thyroid (goiter). If these symptoms are persistent, it's wise to get your thyroid levels checked with a doctor.
